So I may still be a little 'new' to the blogging scene, not too new, but I am participating in my first blog train! Wahoo! I am part of an amazing Creative Team for Laurie's scraps, and each member has created some great freebies that correlate with one of two kits, A dream is a wish, or Fairest one of all.

I love Fridays - not only because it usually means Laurie has released something new - but also because for the next few months it means I can relax a bit. I am taking a class on Thursday nights to finish my masters degree - and I am so thankful when Thursdays are over!

For the last few years I have made my own calendar for our family. Well for my 2010 calendar I used Laurie's scraps kits almost exclusively - but there wasn't a good fit for February and valentine's day. That will not be a problem next year - Laurie has released a gorgeous kit that is far from the average red and pink kit - so of course my hubby loves it! And so do I!

Snow Angels - and a different kind of Freebie!

I had so much fun playing with Laurie's newest kit - Snow Angels. I LOVE the colors, and the detail in the embellishments, the flourishes and the textures of the paper.

Which brings us to my example. I was doing a little shopping at Target and I was perusing the dollar spot for some stocking stuffers for my boys and I found some cute photo cubes and I thought they would make a cute present for the grandparents. Initially I had thought to scrapbook some pictures - the traditional way. But the cube held pictures that were 3.37 x3.37 inches (that's what it says on it - weird) and I thought that might be a little difficult to measure and cut - and then it came to me - make it digitally once - and print off 4 times! Genius - one of the many reasons I love digi scrapbooking!

So here is how my photo cute came together - love it! This kit was perfect - and you can grab it on sale this week in Laurie's stores.

If you can run to target and grab some photo cubes (I know I am going to get some more) I made a template to fill your photo cube with. I even made a a 12x12 template and 8.5 x 11 templates so you can choose which is easier for you to print.

It's Friday, and you know what that means? Yep, Laurie has a new great kit out! This one is called Forever & For Always, and it so sweet. I love that the color combination, I would never had thought to put them together!

Here is what I did with it. I lifted a layout from from Mi'Chelle Larson in Simple Scrapbooks. I did do a little altering with embellishments, and dimensions, but the basic sketch was from the magazine. I love how it turned out! Vegas Baby! {and a freebie!}

Ok, so I knew I had the perfect picture of my friend Leslie and I in front of the Nugget Hotel/Casino from 4 years ago (I think the Nugget may be gone now.) We were in Vegas for the CTMH convention, I was prego, and we were being cheep and staying down the strip from the convention - you can't beat $19 a night! We took pictures of our walk to convention, and all kinds of fun - but neither of us can find the photos! We had both recently purchased digital cameras, so yeah, I am at a loss.

I was worried because I was going to have to get creative with Laurie's new kit "What happens in Vegas." But it was so easy, this kit is awesome! Even though I'm not a big gambler, I think I hit the jackpot when I bought a small vacuum for our family, or rather Nate. So I was collecting some freebies tonight and came across this cute template at Digital Scrap Cafe and I thought the template was cute, but I couldn't resist completing the challenge for the awesome prize - a paper pack. Check it out here to grab the template and see the prize.

Here is my layout - I used Laurie's Scrap's "Kristine" Kit. Even thought it is a more "girly" kit, I was easily able to make it work with with my little guy.

I am so thrilled to be a part of the creative team for Laurie's Scraps - her kits are amazing, and completely match my style. As part of Laurie's CT, I get to show off her new kits, like "Stars and Stripes" that is available in all of Laurie's stores beginning today.

Here is a 2-page layout I made with the new kit - and I also used the "Medley" sketch from Jeanette Lynton's Imagine Book.

So since I have started doing some digital scrapbooking, I have also started to change my desktop on my computer each month. So here is my very first freebie, (for my friends and family who I am just introducing to digital scrapbooking) you can add your own pictures and use this cute thing for your desktop background! Of course all of the paper and elements are from Laurie's "Stars and Stripes" kit...so, what you do think?

How did I get into this...

...well it all started with my yearly Christmas card. You know the one I make a ton of, and only get around to actually sending out a dozen or so. Each year I have been getting successively better about getting them out, but I digress. Well I have far too many pictures I want to share to narrow it down to just one, and I will not pay walmart or anyone else for their overpriced photo cards. So I set out to figure out how to make my own.

I used this AMAZING free tutorial from Jessica Sprague and I learned the basics. (BTW this week only you can register for a free photo editing class that starts in July- I just did, can't wait to learn more on this subject!) Jessica does an incredible job explaining things - and her video tutorials are superb! At this point do I need to tell you I highly recommend them?

The rest, as they say, is history. I still LOVE my paper products, and I just made a bunch of cards the other night, and my addiction to CTMH is still a force to be reckoned with. But I think I see a transition in my life, at least as far as my scrapbooking goes.
